OPENING EVENT Urology Practice in Greece 2020 - From the Resident’s, Hospital Clinician’s and Private Clinician’s Perspective
Duration:
17.00 - 18.00

Modern Medical Practice is being overwhelmed by Technology. This is happening so rapidly and  to such a great extent that we often find difficulty in following it. Open surgeries have already decreased dramatically: in modern clinics the open surgery rate does not exceed 10% of surgical procedures.Being a medical specialty predominantly affected by Technology, Urology is faced with many challenges. Is the training of Residents appropriate? For instance, can a young Urologist treat Infertility without knowing how to use a flexible ureteroscope or the microscope? And how much training is offered with regard to ‘Office Urology’ and ‘Soft Skills’? And once Residency is completed, comes what? Outpatient Clinics, Hospital or Private Medicine? A Resident completing her Residency in Urology and two Urologists who have been serving in Hospitals but are now practising as Private Urologists, are here to present concerns and ideas for discussion.

At the end of the session, ISUD has the great pleasure of honoring Professor Petros Perimenis, a Landmark Personality in Urology Training and in our UroSchool who has exceptionally served Urology both as a Hospital and Academic Physician. That is why this specific topic has been chosen for the opening event.
