Tasos Athanasopoulos graduated from the Medical School at the G’Annunzio University in Kieti, Italy (1976-1982). He is a Professor of Urology – Functional Urology at the Medical School of the University of Patras, and Head of the Urodynamic Urology Unit of the University General Hospital of Patras. He commenced his Residency Training in Urology at the Elpis General Hospital of Athens, and completed it at the University Hospital of Patras in 1990. In 1990, he got his Ph.D. from the University of Patras. He pursued a Fellowship in in Female Urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics in Great Britain at the Royal Glasgow Infirmary (con. Mr P. Paterson), Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation (con. Mr M. Speakman) and Bristol Sauthmead General Hospital (con. Prof. P. Abrams).
He has worked on Sabbaticals as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the Bristol Urological Institute, as a Consultant Urologist at the Taunton and Somerset Hospital, as a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, USA, and at the Department of Urology and Andrology at the University of Perugia, Italy. He has published more than 160 articles, most of which in international peer-reviewed medical journals, with more than 2000 citations. He has given over 200 speeches as an Invited Speaker in Greece and abroad. His main research interest focuses on Functional Urology. He is also a Reviewer in numerous international medical journals.
